Everything people ask us

Grouped roughly by how often we hear them.

Do you charge extra for nights, weekends, or holidays?

No. Depex bills the same rate whatever time you call. A burst supply line at 3 a.m. on a long weekend is quoted exactly as it would be on a Tuesday morning, and there is no call-out premium layered on top.

How fast can you get to me in Coquitlam?

For genuine emergencies inside Coquitlam we aim to be on site within about an hour, and usually sooner. Elsewhere in Metro Vancouver, expect one to two hours depending on traffic and the crossing. Non-urgent work is normally booked same-day or next-day.

Will you give me a price before you start?

Yes. We diagnose first, then hand you a written flat price for the repair. You approve it before any tool comes out of the truck. If we open a wall and find something genuinely different from what we quoted, we stop and re-quote rather than adding to the invoice later.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — Depex carries liability insurance and WorkSafeBC coverage, and permitted work is done under the appropriate municipal plumbing permit. We're happy to send the documentation before we attend.

My drain is slow but not blocked. Can it wait?

It can, but it usually shouldn't. A slow drain means the restriction is already most of the way formed, and the cost of clearing a partial blockage is far lower than the cost of a full backup into a finished basement. If you're seeing slow drainage on more than one fixture, that points at the main line and is worth looking at soon.

Do you work on stratas and commercial buildings?

Regularly. We handle strata common-property plumbing, riser and stack repairs, restaurant grease lines, backflow device testing, and scheduled preventive maintenance. Non-urgent commercial work can be booked outside your operating hours.

What areas do you serve?

Coquitlam is home base. We also cover Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Burnaby, Anmore, Belcarra, and Pitt Meadows.

Which service do I need if water is coming up out of a floor drain?

That is a main-line symptom, not a fixture symptom. When wastewater surfaces at the lowest drain in the building, the blockage is downstream of everything else — usually in the main sewer lateral. Stop using water in the building and call us; this is one of the situations where an hour matters.

Can you handle the whole renovation, or just the plumbing?

We do the plumbing scope — rough-in, relocation, venting, pressure testing, permits, and finish — and we coordinate our stages around your other trades. We're not general contractors, but we've worked alongside enough of them to keep a bathroom on schedule.

Do you install fixtures I've bought myself?

Yes, and it's often the cheaper route. One caution: we'll inspect the item before installing it, and if a fixture is a known-problem model or arrives with a defect, we'll tell you rather than fit it and be back in three months.

Is there a call-out fee?

Diagnostic time is quoted up front and rolled into the repair price when you go ahead. You'll never be told the cost after the fact.

Which areas does Depex actually cover?

Seven municipalities: Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Burnaby, Anmore, Belcarra, and Pitt Meadows. We work in that footprint deliberately — staying tight is what lets us hold a genuine one-hour emergency target instead of quoting one and missing it.

How quickly can you reach me?

Inside the Tri-Cities and Burnaby we aim to be on site within an hour for genuine emergencies, and usually sooner. Anmore, Belcarra, and Pitt Meadows add a little drive time — we will give you a real arrival window on the phone rather than an optimistic one.

Do you charge extra for the outlying areas?

No. Travel is built into the quoted price and you see that number before we start. There is no separate mileage line added afterwards, and no surcharge for Anmore, Belcarra, or Pitt Meadows.

My property is on a well or septic. Can you still help?

Yes. That comes up regularly in Anmore and Belcarra. Well and septic systems change how we diagnose pressure problems and drainage, so tell us when you book and we will bring the right equipment on the first visit.

I am just outside your area. Will you still come?

Sometimes, for scheduled or commercial work. Call and ask — if it is not a good fit we will say so rather than take the booking and arrive late.

What payment methods do you take?

Cash, debit, Visa, Mastercard, and e-transfer. Commercial and strata clients can be invoiced on terms.

Can you give me a price over the phone?

For some standard jobs, yes — and we will. For anything where the cause is not yet known, a phone number would be a guess, and guesses are how people end up with surprise invoices. We would rather diagnose first and quote a figure we can hold to.

What should I do before the plumber arrives?

If water is escaping, close the main shut-off valve — usually where the supply enters the building, often in a basement or crawlspace. Cut power to the affected area if water is near outlets or lights. Clear a path to the fixture, and move anything you would hate to lose. If you have a moment, photograph the damage for your insurer.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. If a repair we performed fails, we return and put it right. Parts and fixtures carry their manufacturer's warranty, and we register those for you where the manufacturer requires it.
